Course Description
When you write poetry you engage in a dialogue with poets from the past and those writing today. Your own work is nurtured by reading and listening to the poems that affect you deeply. In this course, the first half of each session is devoted to experiencing and discussing modern and contemporary poetry. The second half is a writing workshop devoted to developing voice, metaphor, rhythm, motion, and imagery. You will be encouraged to experiment with various styles and techniques to assure originality and enrich your expressive power as a contributor to the ongoing poetic dialogue.
